Sexual Exploitation of Developmentally Disabled Woman Moves Illegitimate
Daughter to Write Their Life Story
Rural Arkansas, late 1960s. Most villages raise their children. This village, however, violated one of its own. The retarded daughter of the community becomes pregnant. A tragedy only intensified by the knowledge that so many have had their way with her that it takes a decade to determine paternity. Thirty Thieves of Innocence succeeds in putting a face on an unspoken epidemic. Statistics show that 90% of all developmentally disabled women will be sexually violated in their lifetime.
